John Giorno

Cahiers d’Art presents an exhibition of new work by poet and visual artist John Giorno. Well known as a pioneer of performance poetry and Poem Paintings, Giorno creates new inkjet prints on Hahenmuhle archival paper and an oversized (72” x 72”) silkscreen especially for the exhibition at Cahiers d’Art. Comprised of messages excerpted from his poetry and printed in his trademarked font, they are exhibited together with four new paintings. Also released is a series of T-shirts emblazoned with a selection of Giorno’s poem paintings, bringing his streetwise poetry to audiences worldwide.

A portfolio of 12 screen prints by John Giorno created between 2015-2016 is featured in the newest issue of the Cahiers d’Art revue.

I’m giving out energy, and I’m holding up a mirror to their minds. It’s not me they’re looking at—it’s into their own minds. That’s what a great poem is.
