Edited by VERVE magazine as part of VERVE, Vol. X, no. 37-38.

The drawings included in the book were executed by Marc Chagall between 1958 and 1959. They illustrate biblical themes he hadn't dealt with for his etching of the Bible.
The 96 black and white plates, and the color cover illustration, were specially produced for this issue of Verve.
