Fernand Léger, Profil de femme, drypoint, 1931

This drypoint might have been intended for an unrealized portfolio which Christian Zervos, editor of Cahiers d'Art, planned to issue in the early 1930's. The woman's profile is similar to numerous ink drawings Léger did between 1929 and 1931. Zervos pulled the edition in 1961, after Léger's death, and may have intended it then for a publication which never appeared either.
