Henri Matisse's Stencil for Cahiers d'Art 1936.

Original Henri Matisse gouache cut. 1936. Work appearing on the cover of the famous 1936 issue on Matisse's drawings. Geometric patterns in earthenware blue, black, Persian red, light and dark Japanese green occupy the first cover, the second has three sinuous black lines on a Persian red background, a triangle towards Japan and black on a faience blue background on the right. This gouache is the first in a series of cut-out gouache creations intended for various books, periodicals and catalogs.

Stencil for Cahiers d'Art 1936. One of the scarce publisher's proofs.

Condition: pattern in excellent condition. Very good general condition. Brilliant colors.
