Cahiers d’Art presents the definitive Catalogue Raisonné of the Drawings, a landmark, multi-volume series documenting Gehry’s complete body of drawn work. Bringing together preparatory sketches, studies, and archival material alongside photographs of maquettes and realized buildings, the series offers an unprecedented insight into the creative process of one of the foremost artists and designers of the modern era.

Volume 2 spans the pivotal years 1978 to 1983, a period of rapid experimentation and transformation in Gehry’s practice. Beginning with the unbuilt Wagner Malibu Residence and concluding with the Borman Residence, this volume captures a decisive shift in his architectural language. The drawings reveal an increasing formal boldness and mark Gehry’s early engagement with emerging digital tools and three-dimensional design processes.

Authored by the late, renowned architectural historian Jean-Louis Cohen—in close collaboration with Gehry—and continued across the series by Todd Gannon, the publication combines rigorous scholarship with exceptional visual documentation. Each volume includes detailed texts, high-resolution reproductions, and comprehensive catalogue entries with provenance, exhibition history, and bibliographic references.

This ambitious project will comprise eight volumes, forming the most exhaustive record of Gehry’s drawings ever assembled.
